Our Story

Lakeview Bakery has been around sine the origins of the community of Lakeview. Starting life on the north side of the mall, it moved to the “new” addition to the mall in 1990. In March of that year, Brian and Maureen Hinton purchased the bakery and continued the delicious traditions it had established as well as adding their fine British baking to the mix.

Over the course of the 1990s, Lakeview Bakery continued to innovate and add new and unique bakery items. Spelt and Kamut flour products were introduced. followed by gluten free fresh baked goods. These products were unheard of at the time but were strongly welcomed by those looking for them. This extended beyond our retail location and we were fortunate enough to make strong retail partner Friendships with the likes of Community Natural Foods, Calgary Coop, Amaranth whole Foods. Partnerships we continue to this day

The 2000s continued to see the growth of the retail/Wholesale relationship and saw the likes of Second cup join us for a while. We also introduced a line of fresh baked products based on a low carb diet. Bread, buns, bagels, etc.

By 2009 it was time to find a new DEDICATED location for our gluten free products. We were fortunate enough to find a location on the south side of the Glenmore Reservoir and turn it into Lakeview Gluten Free Bakery, Located in Oakridge, the Dedicated location has built a loyal retail presence for it’s baked goods

Despite all the challenges we all face these days, both bakeries continue to produce wonderful baked goods and meet and exceed the expectations of our customers.
